This course, by world-renowned legend in the military and law-enforcement community, presents Lt. Col. Dave Grossman’s recipe for ensuring that your mind is mentally prepared for combat encounters, and the life after. He presents various topics such as how violence in our society has become prevalent, the responsibility of on and off-duty cops, how to prepare for and deal with the stress of violent encounters, and the role that law-enforcement plays in serving as the protectors to those around them.
Dr. Rachelle Zemlok is a licensed clinical psychologist in California, specializing in work with first responder families. She serves as the strategic wellness director at Lexipol, supporting the content and strategy related to first responder mental health and wellness, with a special focus on supporting spouses and family members through the Cordico Wellness App. Prior to joining Lexipol, Zemlok founded First Responder Family Psychology, which provides culturally competent therapy to first responders and their family members.
Douglas A. Olson was recently appointed as the special agent in charge of the Portland Field Office in Oregon. Mr. Olson joined the FBI as a special agent in 2003 and has worked assignments throughout the world, from the Greensboro Resident Agency of the Charlotte Field Office in North Carolina, to the New York Field Office, to FBI Headquarters as the program manager of the Eurasian Organized Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigative Division. In 2013 he was selected to serve as the supervisory senior resident agent of the Salem Resident Agency of the Portland Field Office and was responsible for all FBI programs in Salem.
Mr. Olson was promoted to assistant legal attaché in 2016 and served in the Stockholm suboffice of the FBI’s legal attaché office in Copenhagen, Denmark. Then in 2019, Mr. Olson was named an assistant special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh Field Office, where he was responsible for the cyber, counterintelligence, intelligence, and mission support programs. He was promoted in 2022 to chief of the Operational Support Section of the Criminal Investigative Division at Headquarters.
Mr. Olson earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Virginia Polytechnic State University. Prior to joining the FBI, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a scout-sniper platoon commander and intelligence officer.
A group of detectives from the Washington County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Team will present a detailed case study for attendees.
